History

Musakasa Technical Training Institute is located in Bumula Sub-County of Bungoma County, at Musakasa Market along Netima-Napara Road off Bungoma- Mayanja-Malakisi road. The idea to start the institute was mooted by the political, religious, and community leaders in 2010. This was in line with the government policy of establishing a technical training institute in every constituency. The political leadership then availed funds to purchase approximately 5.6 hectares of land. It was registered by the then Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology (MOHEST) in December 2012. The first block was constructed in 2013 and currently houses engineering workshops for Electrical, Mechatronics, and Building Technology. The first batch of 22 students was enrolled in Fashion Design and Garment Making Technology at the Artisan level. Currently, the student population is approximately 700 in the following programs; Hospitality and Institutional Management Agriculture and Environmental Studies Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Mechatronics Engineering Building and Civil Engineering Business Studies Computing and Informatics These programs are taught by 62 competent trainers who are practicing experts in their field of study.
