Commonwealth Association of Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA) Conference 2017



Musakasa Technical Training Institute was privileged to send a representative (the institutions principal) to this year’s CAPA conference held in Cape Town, South Africa from 23rd to 29th April, 2017.

The theme for the conference was ‘’Issues and Strategies for Achieving Accelerated Industrialization in Africa:  The role of TVET.’’ The conference was geared towards the development of a blue print for harmonization of competency education and training and how to involve TVET institutions in producing skilled and capable manpower for accelerated industrialization of African economies

Key speakers were from Kenya, Ghana, Uganda Netherlands among others. Benchmarking to various established TVET institutions in South Africa was among the activities participants got to undertake.

Commonwealth Association of Polytechnics in Africa (CAPA) was established in 1978 to promote professional skills development in commonwealth Africa by providing a forum for generating, testing and sharing innovative idea on technical and vocational education through conferences, workshops and Publications. CAPA promotes partnerships and capacity building initiatives as well as policy review and advocacy in favor of skills development in member countries.

The association has been holding biannual international conference in rotation among its member counties.
